OE Clayton Member Spotlight: Scott McNett, GSI Executive Search

Here is a spotlight on longtime member Scott McNett of GSI Executive Search.  Here are the questions we asked and his responses.

Please share a bit about you. Are you a dreamer, risk-taker or doer?

That is a good opening question, and I would say part doer and part dreamer.  I am very task-oriented, which is the doer part.  I am definitely a dreamer, and a calculated risk-taker.

As fellow entrepreneurs, we would enjoy hearing about your business.

I am an Executive Search consultant in the hospitality industry, primarily for private clubs and resorts, but I also do some hotel and restaurant management searches, too.  Our firm, GSI Executive Search, is national and has been around for 26 years.  I have been with the firm for 13 years and the industry for 21 years.  I am also the part owner of Frontenac Racquet Club here in town and used to own and manage another local tennis and health club before getting into executive search.

Many of our readers may be able to use your services or make referrals. How would you describe your ideal client?

The ideal client for GSI Executive Search is a hospitality organization looking for a General Manager, or any department head in their organization.  Our website lists all the positions we search for, including positions ranging from CFO to Executive Chef to Director of Racquets.  We handle placements for clubs all across the country.

Would you share some top tips for success with our readers?

That’s another good question.  I would say that good time management is probably the key, closely followed by maintaining a balance of good sales, execution, and administration practices.  Responsiveness and creativity are also keys.  And in my business, which is the hospitality industry, you have to have integrity and be service oriented.

How has Office Evolution helped your business?

Being here with OE and in this space has been a great fit.  Everything I need for work is here and the location is great.  I’ve got quick access to the airport and am only minutes from home.  Clayton is ideal for business and social needs as well.  I have been here since 2006 and have been very satisfied.  OE has upgraded the service and facilities over the last two years.  The office has other small biz folks who are interesting and good to know.

Who would you nominate as the next “OE Dreamer, Risk-taker, or Doer”?

I would nominate my office neighbor, Kory O’Laughlin.
