I am all three! It's an interesting question though, specifically because my mantra for 2021 is, "Stop chasing opportunity and start chasing execution." So, I would say being a "dreamer" and "risk-taker" played a bigger role in the earlier phases of my business, but now, they have taken a back seat to “doing!”
I run two media websites in the Sustainability and Green-living space that specifically focus on sustainable home upgrades. My team publishes informational guides and reviews for readers focused on topics like solar power, eco-friendly appliances, energy-efficient hot water, radiant floor heating, rainwater harvesting, and many more other things related to promoting environmentally friendly living.
Because I run media properties, my customers are manufacturers, installation partners, and advertisers in the sustainability field. Basically, I look to work with small to mid-sized contractors who provide eco-friendly home upgrades. My ideal customers share a similar ethos that involves a balance of earth-care and wallet-care, they understand the value of good content and digital lead generation, and they can incorporate an occasional "personal touch" into the daily transactions we engage in.
On the homescreen of my phone, I have a quote that says, "Unique Rewards, Unique Prices." It's a helpful reminder to me that you can't expect the most exceptional "prizes of life" without also making some of the craziest sacrifices. If you want to make incredible money, work few hours, or be location-independent, then maybe in return you have to work odd hours.
If you want to achieve success, you have to get out of your comfort zone more than, perhaps, a 9 to 5 "wagie" would. Maybe you have to drive an older car than everybody else or have no car at all. Maybe you have to sacrifice football, wake up early, or do 100 other things that people around you aren't doing.
The "prices" and "rewards" are different for everyone— only you know what they really are for you—but the bottom line is, if you're aiming for something extraordinary, you don't get there by doing the ordinary just because that's what people around you do.
