What’s the status of commercial development in Flowood?

Equipment

The US Census Bureau shows the population of the Jackson Metropolitan Area to be just over 560,000 people. While Flowood, is one of its smaller suburbs, its proximity to the airport, highly desirable retail and office areas as well as its many nearby upscale neighborhoods, make it the center of significant commercial development lately.

In fact, the entire Jackson area is currently benefiting from commercial development projects representing hundreds of millions of dollars.

But what’s going on in Flowood?

Beyond that, Waterpointe will be home to 560 residences, all part of this commercial development.

With its town square concept and waterfront, Waterpointe will have shopping and a restaurant district with waterfront dining. Future work will bring to life a pool, bike trails, walking paths and an event area.

Estimates how that the community will have an estimated economic impact of $250 million in construction activity. The total development cost is anticipated to reach almost a half billion dollars.

Flowood Conference Center

A $50 million commercial development is bringing a new conference center to the Flowood – Airport Road area. The Flowood Conference Center will feature a 200 room luxury Sheraton Hotel and over 50,000 square feet of conference center space.
