Tell us a little about your business and what you do.

We are a web marketing and video production business based in Boulder, Colorado. Ramblin Jackson helps small businesses get found online with website design, social media, video production and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

What sets you apart from your competition?

We do video! Video is great for SEO and a great way to differentiate your business online. We provide a holistic presence for businesses: from their photography to video to their website, social media and SEO, we do it all under one roof.

One of my favorite things about Ramblin Jackson is that we really make a big difference in peoples’ businesses. Just recently we had a childcare business that had a terrible website. They came to us for SEO and I said, “Great, we’re going to do SEO, but your website is terrible, no one will hire you. You need a new website.” They agreed and I’m so glad they did because now, their revenue is up over $8,000 per month.

There were two things that made that project successful:

  1. Mobile. We made their website mobile friendly so people could contact them easily.
  2. Professionalism. A newly updated website made them look more professional.

How has your industry changed over the past five years?

One of the ways our industry has changed over the last 5 years is the explosion of mobile. Mobile is taking over everything. People are now searching on their mobile devices more than they are on computers. Sixty-six percent of emails are opened on mobile devices and video is also consumed on mobile.

In your marketing, you want to think mobile first because people, whether they see a print ad or a TV commercial or they are searching for you online, they are going to engage with your brand on mobile.

What is your best business tip?

Get reviews! Get reviews on Google My Business and Yelp. If you’re in sales, get them on LinkedIn.

Also, get video testimonials from your customers. Put the video testimonials on YouTube, and your website because people are researching you and your competitors. Reviews are what’s going to set you apart.

What do you like most about Office Evolution?

We’ve been Office Evolution members for over three years and we love it. We lease two full time office spaces in Boulder, and we also use the conference rooms as needed when we have meetings with a large team or our clients. We also enjoy using the phone service. And having access to conference rooms throughout the Front Range is very beneficial to us.

Two of the top benefits we have enjoyed as Office Evolution customers are:

  1. Our phone is always answered. If we’re all out and we’re busy and someone calls our office, the phone is answered and that really helps from a sales standpoint.
  2. Having an office gives us a professional appearance that sets us apart from some of the smaller companies.

There you have it; four tips from Jack Jostes, the Internet Marketing Director for Ramblin Jackson:

  1. Get online reviews
  2. Go mobile
  3. Capture video testimonials
  4. Have a professional website
