Member Spotlight: David Hemmerly, President of Fidelis Wealth Management
David Hemmerly has been a Dedicated Office Space Member at the Office Evolution Raleigh since March 2020
and we are excited that he just renewed his membership for an additional two years
It is no coincidence that David Hemmerly named his business Fidelis Wealth Management, in part, as a tribute to his illustrious 20 year career as a Marine, whose motto Semper Fidelis means Always Faithful. His personal mantra is “do the right thing for the right reasons and everything else follows”.
David and the Fidelis Wealth Management team take pride in developing and implementing a comprehensive Wealth Management Plan to guide clients in the pursuit of their current and future financial goals. They take the time to learn about each one’s individual objectives, help identify potential gaps in funding them, and review which alternatives might be appropriate. They then help clients stay on track by adjusting their strategies as necessary to meet any changing needs or to adapt to changing economic conditions.
While he serves a diverse range of traditional clients, David points to an increase in young families striving to build wealth through a steady, accumulation strategy, and estimates that 30% are small business owners.
David says that successful long term investing comes down to three distinct traits:
-
Faith in the future of the American economy and its markets can potentially be rewarding over time. It keeps you from being frightened out of your long-term portfolio, and helps you pursue real-life returns.
-
It is imperative to ride the ups and downs of the market in order for your portfolio to provide for you in 10, 20, 30 years (and depending on your current age, perhaps beyond that).
-
Commit to funding your investment plan month in and month out. Pay yourself first, fund your long-term plan before remodeling the kitchen or grabbing that great deal on a boat. The undisciplined investor reacts, while the disciplined investor continues to act, across all market cycles.

David was born in Maine but as the son of an Air Force Intelligence Officer, he moved just about every 18 months including throughout Europe, until he was 16. Upon graduating high school in Little Rock AR, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for 20 years in many exotic areas of the world including Panama and three tours in Beirut.
Before founding Fidelis Wealth Management, David was a Financial Advisor with UBS Wealth Management where he developed a comprehensive wealth management practice. His previous corporate roles include Senior Vice President with Bank of America, and several years as a Global Operations Leader in GE’s Plastics Division.
A graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Economics, David has also earned a Master’s of Science in Management and Econometrics from the Naval Post Graduate School.
