Since this is a short week with Christmas on Thursday, I thought I would write up a short blog with last-minute gift ideas for anyone who has been surprised by it being Christmas already! (I mean, wasn’t it Thanksgiving just last week???)

These are all local stores to me in Walnut Creek, CA and I encourage you to use these or similar local businesses in whatever city you’re in.  It is always a good idea to support the locally-owned and operated places in your community, for many reasons. This year, it is even more crucial to support our neighbors—we have all taken a hit during this pandemic and the holiday season may be the last chance for some of us to eke out a chance to stay in business.

Love + Chocolate – got a chocolate fiend in your household and beyond? Look no further than Love and Chocolate for all your fudgy and gourmet chocolate needs, plus shortbreads and other yumminess!  

Bondadoso Coffee and Tea – looking for a coffee giftcard, beans, or cute cards and presents? Get the beverage aficionado in your family all the coffee, tea, and accessories they can possibly want. Plus, get one of their adorable plantable cards to send with it!

Back 2 Perfect – Who hasn’t felt the stress of this year?! Owner Laura Cartwright has added medical personnel to her awesome group of healers so she is able to stay open—especially if your need is doctor-ordered!

Rakestraw Books – a little bit of a trek from Walnut Creek, Rakestraw Books in Danville is never to be missed, for gifts for you, your family, your favorite barista, etc. Rumor has it this is our BCM Callie’s favorite stomping grounds . . .  

Flashlight Books – and for the kiddos in your life, check out Walnut Creek’s best kid’s book store on N. Main Street. You can’t go wrong with their selection! They also have books for grownups so check them out.

Five Little Monkeys — this little toy store is packed with stunning toys and gifts for the little monkeys in your life. The staff is well-versed in their selection and always able to make the perfect suggestion for any-age kiddo.

Art by Kerima Swain — some of you know this amazing local artist who has created all the paintings in our Walnut Creek location.  All the pieces are for sale and Kerima has more original paintings on her website along with prints, cards and more. I have my eye on one of the pieces here (hint hint, Rhett!).
