For the next five months, I am excited to be part of both Venture X and Office Evolution, gaining hands-on experience in the world of coworking and flexible office spaces. As a business and management student at EMLV School in La Défense, France, my academic program requires me to complete an internship abroad. Given my previous exposure to American business culture through an internship with Channen’s company, Stratus Building Solutions, I knew I wanted to return to the U.S. for this next opportunity. When Channen introduced me to his new business ventures, I was immediately intrigued—especially since coworking spaces like Venture X and Office Evolution are not as common in France. The idea of professionals from different companies working together in a collaborative environment seemed like an exciting and innovative concept.
Before joining this internship, I had never heard of Venture X, Office Evolution, or any coworking companies. However, the more I learned, the more I saw how these spaces are reshaping the future of work. With real estate costs rising globally, flexible office solutions provide businesses with a cost-effective alternative to traditional office spaces. Instead of investing heavily in office real estate, businesses can take advantage of fully equipped workspaces without the added expenses of maintenance, cleaning, or setup. I am particularly interested in learning more about flexible business solutions like coworking, virtual office services, and telephone answering services, as they provide growing companies with the resources they need to operate efficiently without major overhead costs.
My Background and Education
My academic journey has been quite diverse. After earning my baccalaureate, I initially pursued engineering at ESILV School in La Défense, Paris. For three years, I studied subjects like mathematics, fluid mechanics, dynamics, and coding (Python, C+, C#). One of the most exciting aspects of my engineering studies was the yearly hands-on projects, where we tackled real-world issues such as global warming and sustainability. In my first year, I built a windmill that could charge a phone using only paper and recycled plastic. These experiences taught me valuable skills, including teamwork, problem-solving, and meeting tight deadlines.
However, after three years in engineering, I realized I wanted a different career path—one more focused on business, strategy, and human interaction. This led me to transition to business and management studies at EMLV, where I discovered a passion for subjects like accounting, law, negotiation, and sales. During my studies, I also spent four months at Brunel University in London, where I took courses in business law and financial accounting, further expanding my international experience.
Exploring the Professional World
Outside of my studies, I’ve taken on various jobs to develop practical skills. During summer breaks, which last two to three months in France, I worked as a bartender, retail vendor, and bakery delivery driver. These experiences allowed me to sharpen my customer service and negotiation skills while interacting with people from different backgrounds. I’ve always enjoyed engaging with customers, handling live feedback, and improving my ability to sell and communicate effectively. I have a passion for learning about new businesses and quickly saw a correlation between Venture X and Office Evolution’s mission and their support for many locally owned small businesses. This internship is a great opportunity for me to learn more about the American business landscape and how coworking spaces foster entrepreneurship.
Internship Experience at Venture X & Office Evolution
When I first arrived in the U.S., I was unsure how well I would adapt to speaking English daily in a professional setting. However, thanks to the guidance of Bryce (Vice President of Sales) and the welcoming team, I quickly took on meaningful tasks and responsibilities. My internship involves supporting both Venture X and Office Evolution, helping with various business operations, sales initiatives, and learning about the coworking industry firsthand. The experience has been invaluable—I doubt I could have gained such broad exposure anywhere else.
This internship has also changed my perspective on where I see my future career. While I initially expected to work in France to stay close to my family, spending a year abroad has given me a newfound appreciation for English and American business culture. After three years of engineering studies and one year of business, I was ready for a change of scenery—and this opportunity has exceeded my expectations.
Additionally, I have been commuting while staying in Boulder, using the Flatiron Flyer on RTD from Louisville to Union Station in Denver, which provides quick and convenient access to Venture X LoDo and Office Evolution Denver. This easy transportation option has allowed me to fully immerse myself in the coworking world while balancing my stay in different parts of Colorado.
As I continue my journey with Venture X and Office Evolution, I am eager to contribute, learn, and grow in an environment that fosters collaboration and innovation. I look forward to seeing where this experience takes me next!
