Voter Registration in Indiana Ends October 5

The window is closing on your opportunity to register to vote in the general election in Indiana. The last day Hoosiers can register to vote is October 5. Early voting in the state will begin the following day.

Hoosiers can register to vote at indianavoters.in.gov. Also at the site, registered voters can confirm their registration, review their polling location for November 3, and, maybe most importantly, review who will be on their ballot.

The website, managed by the office of Indiana’s Secretary of State details the limited groups of people who are allowed to vote-by-mail in this year’s general election. Hoosiers should be mindful that the rules around voting by mail for the general election are markedly different than the primary election in June. In June nearly anyone could vote through the mail. For the general election Hoosiers must meet one of eleven demographic categories to qualify for a vote-by-mail ballot such as qualifying age, specific occupation, confirmation that you will be out of town on November 3 or one of six other reasons.

As Americans we call November 3 “Election Day,” but all over this country a significant amount of votes will be cast long before even Halloween. In the two weeks leading up to Election Day, Fishers residents can vote in-person, early, at two public parks in the City. Holland Park and Billericay Park will both offer in-person voting from Wednesday to Saturday in the two weeks preceding the election. (October 21 – October 31.)
