Is flex work here to stay? According to many employees and employers alike, it should be.
Flex work refers to any type of work schedule that doesn’t stick with a traditional 9-to-5, five-days-a-week schedule. For some companies, this could mean allowing workers to come in earlier or later and leave work accordingly. It could also take the form of allowing work-from-home days, either on a part-time or full-time basis. Or, in some extreme cases, it could allow employees to choose their own working hours without oversight, as long as they get the job done.
However companies are choosing to implement flex work during the pandemic, there’s a strong case for making it the norm once life goes back to normal. Many employees were already advocating for remote work prior to the pandemic. They’re citing reasons like better work-life balance, more family and personal time, lower commuting expenses, and a general increase in job satisfaction to support their request.
There are also plenty of incentives in it for companies, too. Many may be able to lower operating costs, expand their competitive edge for talent acquisition, and improve employee retention by embracing a flex work policy, even to some degree.
Take a closer look at the current state of flex work and why it might time to ditch the 9-to-5 structure altogether.Read More.
