These Northerners have a passion for the South
Jill and Randy are Canadians with a love for The Sunshine State. They lived in Florida when their kids were born and always planned to return.
For many years, this dynamic duo led the life of corporate execs, traveling the world and honing their business smarts. They’ve owned businesses together for well over a decade and have a solid understanding of the entrepreneurial spirit they need to succeed.
They think Sarasota is where it’s at
“A thousand people per day are moving to Florida. It is a growth market and one where we believe there will be increasing demand for high quality flexible workspaces,” says Jill. “Although it’s small, Sarasota has a lot to offer – art, culture, beaches, biodiversity, tons of recreational activities outdoors year-round, as well as close proximity to Tampa for great pro sports, an international airport, more arts and culture, etc.”
And on a more personal note, “After 15 years back in Edmonton, Canada, we are done with the seven month-long winters, freezing cold, snow, and ice!”
What energizes them most about joining the OE family?
“After having our own businesses, we’re looking forward to having all the industry expertise, systems and processes provided to us. These things add tremendous value to any business and shorten the learning curve for newcomers,” says Randy, adding “We’re also looking forward to having minimal labor requirements and to the semi-absentee business model, a win-win that will allow us to pursue other interests.”
Both Jill and Randy feel confident that the team at OE has vast experience in the shared office space market and is committed to the success of each of their franchisees.
Feeling empowered by the Ohana
“All the franchisees we spoke to and all the members of the corporate OE team seem genuine and supportive,” Jill and Randy agree. They love the ownership model, as well as the sincere commitment to serve, support and coach members as they build connections with one another.
“Lauren Johnson was awesome, and we never felt like we were being “sold,” but rather that both parties were focused on determining whether this was a good, mutual fit,” says Jill. Noting that they faced some hurdles as they transitioned from Canada during the Covid pandemic, “we really appreciated OE’s patience and willingness to work with us. We’re big fans of the Ohana culture!”
Jill and Randy are eager to begin their journey with us, and we’re eager to support them as they jump in to revolutionize Sarasota’s office space sector!
