Member Spotlight: Chantal Gabriel, Founder of ShuddleRun
Chantal Gabriel, founder of ShuddleRun, is Office Evolution Hackensack’s March 2019 member of the month.
Who Are You?
I am a mother of three active boys. I have lived in New Jersey since 1999. Originally, I moved here to complete my training in emergency medicine. I have enjoyed practicing as a physician for the last 20 years. I started my service in the army reserve in 1998. Currently, I am in the IRR and have the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Why did you choose your profession?
Early in my career, I was blessed to have an amazing childcare provider. She was able to help me with juggling my career and children’s activities. As the children aged, their activities became more difficult to juggle. I needed to be in several places at one time. My children’s nanny was getting older and could not help as efficiently as before. Many friends, other parents, and teachers filled in to help. Though I appreciated the help, it was not always consistent. My children were not always able to participate in certain activities because of my schedule.
I knew other parents that had the same needs. Most parents were not looking for full-time care. Instead, they needed someone that could be available for short periods. Parents were looking for someone for a short 10-minute drive to and from school or after-school activities.
ShuddleRun was developed to help parents with short care needs. A parent needs an after school pickup at 3 pm, we can help. Other parents need both children at two different activities at 4:30 pm, we can help. A mother needs us to take her six-year-old to ballet and wants us to stay with the child for 30 minutes, we can help.
ShuddleRun is here to offer reliable safe transportation. We offer complete transparency. Parents are assigned a driver when they put in their request. They receive the drivers’ telephone number and information. Parents are given an opportunity to speak to the drivers before the ride. If necessary, ShuddleRun will contact the school with information regarding the drive. Also, parents are alerted when the driver arrives at the pick-up site and when the ride starts. Conveniently, parents can follow the ride in real time and contact the driver via direct text or call.
What do you love about your business?
The thing I love most about my business is being able to help others. One day a mother called me. Sadly, she was in tears because she could not figure out how to take her kids to school and go to work. She said she might have to quit her job if she could not find help. We were able to set up transportation that day and help her. Many parents call us with situations like this. We want to help them all. As we continue to grow, I want to expand our services to include more areas in New Jersey.
