As more businesses are starting to reopen their doors across the country, many employees are wondering whether this will be the end of their remote work journey or if employers have finally discovered the benefits of working off-site.
There’s a strong case for allowing remote work to continue even when it’s safe to return to the office. For many employees, remote work has been a beneficial experiment for improving productivity and work-life balance. In fact, with schools and daycares closing across the country, many parents would have been at a loss as to how to work and care for their kids without the chance to work remotely. In addition, not having a commute has added more hours back into their day so they can enjoy a better work/life balance.
Companies should use this experimental time to question whether they really need to transition back to ‘normal’ or if the benefits are great enough to maintain some form of remote work policy, even if it’s only on a part-time basis.
